Suparno Sarkar

Suparno Sarkar is a Bengali author who has gained recognition for his unique contributions to literary discourse, particularly through his pathbreaking effort and finesse in deconstructing ancient Bengali epics. His debut novel, Ajit O Kusum: Banglar Harano Rupkatha, is a fairy-tale published by Nautilus Publication in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The book bears testimony to his deep engagement with traditional storytelling and his ability to weave forgotten folklore into modern narratives with scientific theories, logic backed hypothesis, and factual information about people, places and plausible timeline of stories that have transcended time. Besides the mesmerizing recounting of timeless tales, Sarkar’s work is widely hailed for being rich in anecdotes about ancient Bengali households and personalities.

Over the years, Sarkar has gained prominence for his scholarly approach to deconstruction, a critical method he applies to ancient epics. His forthcoming book, Manasabijay, is a deconstruction of the renowned Manasamangal Kavya, an early 13th-century text that celebrates the goddess Manasa. Through Manasabijay, Sarkar aims to offer new perspectives on this classic work, enriching its historical and cultural significance for contemporary readers.

His work stands out for blending literary creativity with academic rigor, cementing his position in Bengali literature as an author for ‘the curious and the keen’ – curious to know, keen to learn.
